Virtual Workshop on “Career for Law Students: Prospects and Challenges: Motivational Session-I”
A Virtual Workshop on "Career for Law Students: Prospects and Challenges: Motivational Session -I" was organized by the Department of Law, Britannia University on 7th September 2021 at 7:00 PM via Google Meet Platform. The Department of Law, BU had set its first motivational session to facilitate the law students to make themselves to understand the prospects and challenges of Law Career.
As a Keynote Speaker of the session, there was present Barrister Abdul Halim, Advocate, Supreme Court of Bangladesh, Head of Chamber, Halim & Associates. The Chief Guest of the session was Professor Dr. Surajit Sarbabidya, Honorable Vice-Chancellor (In-Charge), Britannia University. As Session Chair there was present, Dr. Md. Milan Hossain, Dean & Chairman, Department of Law, BU. Respected faculty members of the Department of Law were also present. Both the current and former students of the Department and students from other institutions were also present in the session.
The session was hosted by Qazi Shah Paran, Jr. Lecturer, Dept. of Law, BU. At the beginning of the session, he introduced all the guests and invited Ms. Asma Akhter, Lecturer, Department of Law, Britannia University for delivering her welcome speech and in her speech she welcomed all the participants of the session and inaugurated the workshop.
After that Professor Dr. Surajit Sarbabidya, Honorable Vice-Chancellor (In-Charge) gave his speech as the Chief Guest of the session. In his speech, he emphasized the need for multi-dimensional skills of law students in every field of academic and professional life and assured the overall cooperation from the university in organizing various diverse career-oriented initiatives. The Vice-Chancellor also thanked the students and advised to take inspiration from the life experiences of Barrister Abdul Halim, a prominent lawyer of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh.
In the speech of the keynote speaker, Barrister Abdul Halim shared various life changing events of his life and career. He advised the law students to focus on their career development by giving maximum emphasis on in-depth study. He also pointed out that addiction through social media is the biggest obstacle in the career path of the present generation and suggested to come out of it and enrich one's sense of life through practical experience. He also shared various strategies to develop different skills in achieving success in the professional arena of law career. In the Q &A session, in response to various questions of the students, he advised the students to study regularly with patience to achieve their desired goals.
Honorable session chair, Dean and Chairman of the Department of Law, BU, Dr. Md. Milan Hossain thanked the keynote speaker for his delightful discussion and appreciated the keynote speaker, Barrister Abdul Halim for sharing his career related experiences with students and urged the students to follow his advices and suggestions to develop themselves following renowned and experienced lawyers . He assured the overall cooperation of the department to organize such workshops in the future to motivate and develop the skills of the students in different fields.
The convener of the workshop, Ms. Asma Akhter, Lecturer, Department of Law, BU, in her closing remarks, thanked to all the participants and keynote speaker and assured that such workshop would be organized in future by the Department of Law, BU with the co-operation of all.
