To enlighten students of the Department of CSE, Britannia University about Network Security & Cryptography and possible threats on network systems, a Seminar entitled ‘𝗡𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗿𝘆𝗽𝘁𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗽𝗵𝘆’ 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗱 on 𝟐𝟒𝐭𝐡 𝐉𝐚𝐧𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒 at the university campus.

In the seminar, 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳. 𝗗𝗿. 𝗦𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗷𝗶𝘁 𝗦𝗮𝗿𝗯𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗱𝘆𝗮, Honorable Vice Chancellor was present as the Chief Guest. The session was chaired by M𝑟. M𝑜z𝑎m𝑚e𝑙 𝐻a𝑞u𝑒, Chairman, Department of CSE, and hosted and coordinated by Md. Zahidur Rahman, faculty member department of CSE.

Chief Guest, honorable Vice-Chancellor of Britannia University, 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳. 𝗗𝗿. 𝗦𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗷𝗶𝘁 𝗦𝗮𝗿𝗯𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗱𝘆𝗮, in his speech discusses the principles of network security - authenticity, integrity and non-repudiation. He also discussed the effect of vulnerability of network security in any organization. He further discussed the responsibility of professionals in this sector.

Network Security encompasses all the steps taken to protect the integrity of a computer network and the data within it. And Cryptography generally deals with the study and practice of techniques for ensuring secure communication between two parties. These are important because, these keep sensitive data safe from cyber-attacks and ensure the network is usable and trustworthy.

In the first session of the seminar, Speakers discussed in brief the Network Security domain, its importance and applications. They also discussed several types of security in Physical, Technical and Administrator level.  In the second session, Speakers discussed in brief the Cryptography concepts, how it works, and its importance. They also discussed briefly several categories of Cryptography such as Symmetric, Asymmetric and hashing. In the final part, Speakers discussed in brief several attacks on network systems - Active attacks, passive attacks and other kinds of attacks such as password attack, phishing, birthday attack etc. They also discussed the prevention mechanism and some popular algorithm techniques.

The Session Chair, Honorable Chairman of the Department of CSE, Britannia University, M𝑟. M𝑜z𝑎m𝑚e𝑙 𝐻a𝑞u𝑒 thanked the participants for joining the seminar. He briefly discussed the scopes and opportunities in the network security arena. He encouraged students to arrange and participate this kind of events in a consistent manner in future. He wishes everyone to be successful in several sectors like as network security specialists, professionals and any other position.
