"Campaign on Legal Aid in Elimination of Violence against Women-2021"
To celebrate the 16 days of activism, the Department of Law, Britannia University, and USAID's Promoting Peace and Justice ( PPJ) Activity jointly organized a day-long campaign titled "Legal Aid in Elimination of Violence against Women " on 9th December 2021 at 10:00 AM-4:00 pm. This year the campaign theme is " Orange the World: End Violence against Women Now"
The campaign was conducted in two sessions. Honorable Vice-Chancellor ( In-charge) Prof. Dr. Surajit Sarbabidya was present as the chief guest in the first session and in the second session, as chief guest there was present Advocate Md. Shariful Islam, President, District Bar Association, Cumilla. The session chair of the campaign was Dr. Milan Hossain, Dean and Chairman, Department of Law, Britannia University. As special guests, there were present Mr. F.M. Shefayet Salam, District Legal Aid Officer, Cumilla and Mst. Wahida Begum, Advocacy & Outreach component Lead, USAID’s promoting peace and Justice ( PPJ) Activity. As keynote speakers, there were present Advocate Sayed Nurur Rahman, Former Secretary, District Bar Association, Cumilla, Former President, BLAST-Cumilla Unit and Rokeya Begum Shefali, Executive Director, AID Cumilla. The convener of the campaign was Ms. Tanjila Tamanna, Lecturer, Dept. of Law, Advisor, Student Legal Aid Desk, BU.
In the campaign, there were also present representatives from BLAST-Cumilla Unit, AID Cumilla, Bandhu Social Welfare Society, and District Legal Aid Office, Cumilla. The campaign was concluded with a vote of thanks from Dr. Milan Hossain, Dean & Chairman, Dept. of Law, BU.
