Department of CSE, Britannia University successfully organized a webinar on “Ocean: A Tremendous Renewable Energy Source” on 23rd August, 2021 to inform the students the bad impact of global warming, the upcoming miseries created by global warming and to introduce the students with the vast renewable energy source known as ocean energy to overcome the effect created by global warming.  In the session, Mr. Mozammel Haque, Additional Director of IQAC, Chairman, Department of CSE, Britannia University was present as Chief Guest. The session was also chaired by him. Mr. Mohammad Jahed, Lecturer, Department of CSE was present as keynote Speaker. All faculty members and students of CSE Department participated in the webinar.

The webinar was coordinated and hosted by Mr. Masum Bakaul, Lecturer Department of CSE and Mr. Md. Zahidur Rahman, Faculty, Department of CSE respectively. Mr. Md Zahidur Rahman Zahid also provided technical support for this webinar.

At the beginning of the session, Mr. Masum Bakaul, Lecturer, Dept .of CSE introduced the keynote speaker to all participants. He had a short speech on the aims and objectives of the webinar. He invited Mrs. Rita Akter, Lecturer, Department of CSE to deliver her welcome speech. Mrs. Rita Akter thanked the students for their spontaneous participation. She gave emphasis on the arrangement of this kind of webinar that will introduce the students with new kind of technologies that deal with the generation and utilization of renewable energy. She wished that students will spontaneously attend other webinars scheduled in near future.

Mr. Masum Bakaul then invited Mr. Mohammad Jahed for his informative speech. Mr. Mohammad Jahed expressed greetings to all of the participants. In his nearly one hour long speech, he told the participants about global warming, its main causes, the global politics behind this, the upcoming suffering to be faced by people of different aspects because of global warming, solution to solve problems related with global warming. He then introduced the participants with Ocean as a vast renewable energy source. He told the participants about different energy conversion techniques such as ocean thermal energy conversion system, energy conversion from oscillating water column system, floating system, tidal barrages, tidal fences, tidal turbines and other systems. He wished that participants will apply the knowledge shared in his speech. In the question and answer session, the keynote speaker answered various questions of participants regarding Ocean energy.

After the end of the session, the Chief Guest, Mr. Mozammel Haque, Additional Director of IQAC, Chairman, Department of CSE gave his ending speech. He thanked the keynote speaker and other participants for attending the webinar. He made a summary on the contents mentioned by the keynote speaker. He instructed respective committee to arrange this kind of webinar in future. He wished that the students of CSE will dedicate themselves in the research field related with design and implementation of renewable energy.

The session was ended with a vote of thanks from Mr. Masum Bakaul, Lecturer Department of CSE.
