Virtual Workshop on “Outcome Based Curriculum I”
A virtual workshop on “Outcome Based Curriculum I” was organized by ‘Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC)’, Britannia University on 5th July 2021 at 3:00 pm via Google Meet Platform. IQAC, BU had set its second workshop on OBE Curriculum to facilitate its major stakeholders to prepare them to meet the accreditation requirements. It was a three hours’ live workshop session.
The Session Chair of the workshop was the Honourable Vice-Chancellor (In-Charge) of Britannia University Professor Dr. Surajit Sarbabidya. There were also present Dr. S. J. Anwar Zahid, Registrar, Britannia University, Dr. Md. Milan Hossain, Director, IQAC, BU, Mr. Md. Tariqul Alam, Chairman, Department of English, Mr. Mozammel Haque, Chairman, Department of CSE, Md. Md. Sheikh Shahidul Islam Shajib, Asst. Exam- Controller, all members of PSAC of each department, respected other faculty members of the concerned departments and Admin staff of Britannia University.
The session was hosted by Saddam Hossain, Assistant Director, IQAC, BU. At the beginning of the session, he welcomed the honorable director of IQAC, BU, Dr. Milan Hossain for delivering his welcome speech. In his speech, he urged all the departments to prepare their curriculum by following the template of Outcome Based Education (OBE) curriculum and Bangladesh National Qualification Framework (BNQF) which was approved by the Education Ministry and the UGC. Additionally, he highlighted on the necessity of OBE curriculum to get the Accreditation and share his experiences on OBE Curriculum development. He finished his speech by expressing his gratitude to the Honourable Vice-Chancellor (In-Charge) of Britannia University, Registrar, Britannia University and other respected participants for their kind support and cooperation.
A presentation on “Outcome Based Curriculum-I” was given by Ms. Tanjila Tamanna, Assistant Director, IQAC, BU. In her presentation, she gave emphasized on Outcome Based Education, Bloom’s Taxonomy, Template on OBE Curriculum, differences between OBE Curriculum and course outlines and BNQF. After end of her presentation, Mr. Md. Tariqul Alam, Chairman, Department of English, Mr. Mozammel Haque, Chairman, Department of CSE and Asma Akter, Head, PSAC-Law, exchanged their views on various components of OBE Curriculum. Honourable Registrar of the University, Dr. S J Anwar Zahid delivered a well-articulated speech at the workshop on OBE curriculum and also shared some valuable observations on vision, mission, PEO, PLO, CLO etc. for further development. Then, the session was open for thoughtful discussion. The members of the PSAC of the concerned departments and other participants asked many questions to the Director, IQAC and other speakers regarding the OBE curriculu
In his Concluding remarks, the Session Chair, Professor Dr. Surajit Sarbabidya, Honorable Vice-Chancellor (In-Charge) expressed his satisfaction over the activities of the IQAC and shared his plans for developing the topnotch OBE curriculum by different departments and urged to take necessary steps to expedite its activities within the institution. He ended his speech with a cordial thanks to Registrar, Dr. S J Anwar Zahid for his kind presence throughout the session, Dr. Milan Hossain, Director IQAC-BU for arranging such well-organized workshop on OBE curriculum and other present participants for their kind presence in the workshop.
