Our Law Students Attended to the Virtual Discussion on Law Education in the U.S Organized by U.S. Embassy, Dhaka Office.
It is our pleasure to share that the Department of Law, Britannia University received an invitation from the U.S. Embassy, Dhaka to attend a virtual session on Law Education in the U.S. The virtual session was held on 27th May 2021 at 10:00 am and students from the Department of Law, Britannia University enthusiastically participated in that virtual session.
As Keynote speaker there were present Ms. Chaumtoli Huq, an Associate Professor of Law at CUNY School of Law and Ms. Huq is the founder/Editor of an innovative law and media non-profit focused on law and social justice called Law@theMargins. Ms. Lauren Hartley, Associate Director of Graduate, Admission & Global Engagement, St. John’s University, School of Law, New York. Rabita Rejwana, Assistant Professor at the Department of Law and Human Rights at Varendra University Rajshahi, Mischelle Prince and Habiba Akter, Office of Democracy, Human Rights and Governance, USAID were also present during the virtual session. From Department of Law, Britannia University there were present honourable Dean & Chairman , Dr. Milan Hossain, Dept. of Law, Britannia University and other respected faculty members. The session was hosted by Muhammed Sohel Iqbal, Education USA Director, Public Affairs Section, U.S. Embassy Dhaka.
During the session, the keynote speaker Ms. Huq shared her experience of public service focusing on issues impacting low-income New Yorkers, workers in Bangladesh, and human rights issue related to South Asia and in her speech, she also addressed that to change the society, we should work side by side within the community. Ms. Hartley, admission professional from St. John’s Law school talked about the U.S. Law Degree and Application Process. She focused on areas like Admission procedure, New York Bar Exam and Bar Admission, Essential steps to becoming a New York Lawyer and application process in the St. John Law School, New York. At the Q & Session, students from Department of Law, BU ardently participated and Keynote speaker Ms. Huq addressed their questions related with law education in the U.S.
With vote of thanks Mr. Iqbal concluded the session and expressed his desire to meet with the students again in the upcoming sessions.
